Oh friggen face it. You CAN'T climb rock year round in SD, ND, MT... and it's damn ridiculous to say that you can. Seriously. You can not. - from RC.com
It was almost 50° when I met up with the crew...we decided to bask in the sun at a previous unexplored area. We were not disappointed...
Mojede on the FA...
After working another problem on the left aspect of the same boulder for a bit, Pat came back from a quick scope mission...and convinced us to go check out a couple of OWs he spied...
Mojede pantomimes the perceived beta...
As jamming it seems much harder...
Though the laying it back seemed to want to spit you...
Pat on the FA
Whitmore on the repeat
The other OW was not so easy...
...and also overhangs...
Climbing in the shade eventually got chilly, so we moved to warmer ground...
and some of us worked on some overhanging eyebrows...
All in all it was another great day in the backwaters...felt nice to be out climbing in a tshirt...
Hope y'all are getting some pulling in as well...
Cheers,
Tom

Sunday in the Desert
Taking full advantage of the mild January temps, the Mojede4 met with Dustin and Shannon (Liv) for an afternoon on the pebbles.
Dustin topping out.
Shannon finding her groove.
Molly pulling for the jug.
Fine top-out jamming.
Shannon climbing full-on.
Lyddie feeling out the steeps.
Off balance, but searching.
Taking her first padded fall.
A great day to be outside for us--hopefully for others, as well.

Another January Session

Duty calls
I was bummed, as well, for not bringing a flame with to create fire--the kiddos would have been waay more into the day then. Lyddie and Laddie did pretty well IMO that day, what with the temps, light snow, and .66 mile approach.
Next day, I grabbed Ben to go sample some stone, and have him try rock climbing with actual rock shoes on. He did not disappoint, and was way stoked to find a new way to move vertically--too bad he leaves in three days for MT Nat'l Guard training and service.
At least the seed got planted.

If I had my Druthers...
After a long month of low temps, the days have become longer and the Boulder Batholith is now once again climbable. I met up with Jeff, Erik and 3 of the Mojede 4 for some bouldering among the flurries...
It turned out to be a successful and fun day...pretty rad way to start the year among boulders...
Cheers,
TK
